NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (WTNH) — Leaders of re-entry programs for individuals leaving incarceration across Connecticut said they are growing worried for the future of their programs, as state and federal funding scales back. Operating a handful of re-entry programs across the state, Community Partners in Action CEO Beth Hines says programs out of Hartford and Waterbury serve close to 1,000 people annually. Up until now, she’s had to cap services due to fiscal restraints. State grant provides New Haven students free access to public transportation A combination of federal funds through the American Rescue Plan Act has been able to sustain programs for the past four years, until now. Paired with a scale back of $1.5 million normally allocated by the state, Hines said it’s led to some difficult decisions. “We will not be able to serve the amount of people we have in the past. It would be impossible,” Hines said. In a statement sent to News 8, Connecticut Speaker of the House Matt Ritter (D-1) said, “The re-entry program center funding was previously covered by federal COVID funds. Our goal remains to bring this issue up during any future special session.” In response to state cuts, State Rep. Tammy Nuccio (R-53), the ranking member of the Appropriations Committee, says in a statement sent to News 8: “Only Democrats who wrote and passed the $55 billion budget can explain their funding priorities. Make no mistake: Democrats are targeting the state’s spending cap. Their choices this fall — intentions of exceeding the spending limit — threatens to further dismantle our fiscal controls and push us toward fiscal irresponsibility that will make our state even less affordable.” However, Hines said the damage has already been done as her team has laid off staff and scaled back program referrals for this year. “The challenge is, if I don’t have year one, how do I get to year two,” Hines said. “We told the department we can accommodate one drop off per week until, or unless, we receive the funding we need.” At New Life II in New Britain, Pastor Dana Smith said while he hasn’t accessed COVID funding, he may have to re-evaluate his re-entry programming moving forward if state funding doesn’t kick in soon. “Recovery centers and places like us, we want people to start living because (program participants) know how to survive. We don’t want recidivism, we don’t want them going back to jail,” Smith said. Volunteer Luis Malave of the center said being able to access services like their respite program was a lifesaver, after dealing with months of struggles that come with being homeless. “I was like many out there, I was lost, on drugs, on the streets, doing stuff that were not normal,” Malave said. “They really support, it’s non-judgmental, very caring.” Now working at the center to help others in need, he says knowing other programs that helped him might be on the line to fill the gap in funding needed to sustain re-entry services is a tough reality to see. (Photo by Darrell Ehrlick of the Daily Montanan) Puget Sound Energy announced on Tuesday that its Beaver Creek wind farm, a 248-megawatt wind project located on the high plains in Stillwater County is now fully operational. The Beaver Creek wind farm is the latest addition of renewable energy resources that PSE has brought online as it works toward complying with Washington state’s clean energy laws. By 2030, the amount of new, non-emitting generation resources PSE will need to have is more than the utility has accumulated in its 150-year history. The wind farm has an initial nameplate capacity of 248 megawatts, enough energy to power about 83,000 homes a year. Montana wind has a high production rate that is especially valuable during extremely cold weather in the Pacific Northwest, when high pressure systems mean that Washington wind farms produce less energy. “The Beaver Creek project moved from construction to full operation in just over a year, demonstrating what’s possible when we combine innovative planning with strong partnerships,” Mary Kipp, president and CEO of Puget Sound Energy, said in a press release. “I want to particularly thank Montana’s state and local officials for their support and collaborative approach that helped make this aggressive timeline possible. Their partnership has been instrumental in bringing this important energy resource online to serve our customers.” PSE has been a partner in Montana’s energy economy since the 1970s and continues to invest in the state of Montana and its communities. The project uses existing PSE transmission on the Colstrip Transmission System to bring the robust wind energy back to PSE customers. PSE is proud to own and operate the Beaver Creek facility in Stillwater County, employing local workers and supporting the community. The wind farm utilized an estimated 200 to 300 skilled workers during construction and now employs 10 permanent on-site workers for ongoing operations. “The Beaver Creek Wind project is a great example of how we can harness Montana’s abundant natural resources while strengthening our economy,” Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte in the press release. “This is another important milestone in Montana’s all-of-the-above energy approach. I appreciate this investment in our state, and I look forward to seeing the benefits it brings to families and businesses in Stillwater County and beyond.” As part of the clean energy transition, PSE continues to partner with energy producers in the state of Montana. Recent examples include power purchase agreements signed with Energy Keepers, Inc., the tribally owned corporation of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes for hydroelectric power, and an agreement with NextEra for power from Montana’s largest wind farm, Clearwater Wind, based in Rosebud, Custer and Garfield Counties. PSE also has a power purchase agreement with Clearway Energy Group to receive clean energy from its Haymaker Wind facility, that will be constructed in Wheatland and Meagher Counties, Montana. For the past few years, Masonicare, Connecticut’s largest nonprofit senior living community, has welcomed Quinnipiac University students to share the space during the school year. Best high schools in Connecticut, according to U.S. News & World Report Masonicare said the program helps students work and get to know the residents and explore the similarities between the generations. 福山雅治 　フジテレビが設置した第三者委員会の調査報告書で挙げられていた《男性有力番組出演者》の“正体”が明かされた。 　8月18日に配信された『女性セブンプラス』記事によると、フジテレビ局内で港浩一元社長らによって繰り返された《不適切な会合》に、元フジ専務取締役、元関西テレビ代表取締役の大多亮氏が懇意にしていた福山雅治の姿もあったようでーー。 「同誌によると、大多氏が主催する会合は2005年ごろから年に1、2回の頻度で開催され、毎回複数の女性アナウンサーが出席していたといいます。なんでも“男性有力番組出演者”から要望があったとされ、大多氏が求めに応じて会合を開いていたと。 　その会合では、女性アナに対する《いわゆる下ネタ的な性的内容》もあったようです」（芸能リポーター） 　その“男性有力番組出演者”こそが福山だったというのだ。 　2000年代の福山といえば代表曲『桜坂』をはじめ、楽曲をリリースすれば大ヒットを連発し、フジテレビ系列のドラマ出演も多く、2007年には人気シリーズ『ガリレオ』もスタート。いわばフジにとって“大切な取引先”だった。 　吹石一恵と結婚した2015年以降も、大多氏の会合が開かれていたかは定かではないが、それまで“稀代のモテ男”として多くの女性を虜にしてきたのは間違いないところ。 福山雅治からのセクハラならOK 　そんな福山からの“セクハラ”を歓迎する女性もいた。2018年4月20日放送の『情報ライブ ミヤネ屋』（日本テレビ系）に、コメンテーターとして出演した住田裕子弁護士だ。 　この日、セクハラ疑惑を問われて辞職した、当時の財務省事務次官に関するニュースを取り上げていた際、スタジオでは「どんなことが、どこまでがセクハラに当たるのか」との話題になり、住田弁護士は「原則としてボディタッチはアウト」とコメント。 　するとMCの宮根誠司が「福山雅治さんなら？」と聞くと、「そうなんですよ、そういう時はOKなんですー」と一般論としてNGとしつつも、「福山雅治のセクハラならOK」と例外とする住田弁護士。 View the full article
