Minor Updates Follow Previous Model Year's RefreshThe Trump Administration's tariffs have threatened to raise the prices of many new vehicles, but the 2026 Nissan Frontier holds steady. For the new model year, Nissan's midsize pickup truck starts at $33,845 after the mandatory $1,695 destination charge is applied. That's just $285 more than the 2025 model, and $185 of that comes from an increase in the destination charge. Following a refresh for the 2025 model year, the Frontier enters 2026 with minimal changes. Nissan added a Dark Armor appearance package, more standard features for the Pro-X and Pro-4X off-road models, among other changes. A Roush Performance version of the Pro-4X will also be available, with suspension upgrades and styling changes. Familiar LineupNissanAs before, the Frontier is available in both King Cab (extended cab) and Crew Cab configurations. However, the King Cab is only available on the base Frontier S grade, and the base price applies to that configuration with rear-wheel drive. Four-wheel drive is also available as a $3,000-$3,000 option, depending on the trim level. The Frontier S Crew Cab starts at $35,245 with rear-wheel drive. There's also an SV grade ($37,885) and the aforementioned rear-wheel drive Pro-X ($40,265) and four-wheel drive Pro-4X ($43,565) models to choose from with the four-door cab. A 6-foot bed is standard on King Cab models and a 5-foot bed is standard on Crew Cab models. The longer bed is also available as a $500 option on the SV and Pro-4X Crew Cabs. All 2026 Frontier models are powered by a 3.8-liter V6 producing 310 horsepower and 281 pound-feet of torque, enabling a maximum towing capacity of 7,150 pounds. A nine-speed automatic transmission is standard, while Pro-4X models get an electronic locking rear differential. Changes For 2026NissanAvailable on the SV grade, the new Dark Armor appearance package includes black 17-inch wheels, and darkened mirror caps and badging outside, and a black headliner and dark-colored door handles, vents, and shifter and dashboard trim inside. A new yellowish Citrus Strike color is also available on Pro-X and Pro-4X models. All models receive a new drive-mode selector, giving drivers access to Rock, Sand, On-Road, and Mud modes, plus hill descent control. Pro-X and Pro-4X models add standard heated front seats, heated steering wheels, and remote start. Those features, along with dual-zone automatic climate control, are also part of a new All-Weather Package for the SV grade. An eight-way power driver's seat is also newly standard on the SV, Pro-X, and Pro-4X, while S and SV models receive LED headlights. That's a notable improvement, as the halogen headlights that were previously standard on these lower trim levels received a "Poor" rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), while the LEDs were rated "Acceptable." Roush In The HouseNissanNissan is also partnering with Roush Performance to offer further performance upgrades for the Frontier Pro-4X. The "Pro-4X R by Roush" treatment includes a Roush-installed suspension system with a 2-inch lift, external-reservoir coilovers, and new upper control arms, as well as Hankook Dynapro AT2 Xtreme all-terrain tires with Roush-designed 17-inch wheels. Other Roush touches include a skid plate, grille inserts, new lower front fascia, Lava Red tow hooks, and some Roush badging inside and out. The Ohio State University said it intends to release some information about season ticket holders for its football and men's basketball programs after a court rejected the school's appeal of an anonymous public request. The university said it would release the names and seat locations for football season ticket holders for the 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2023 seasons, as well as the 2022-23 and 2023-24 men's basketball seasons. The information is being provided to an unnamed person who filed a public records request for the information, according to the university. The university sent an email to ticketholders on Aug. 18, alerting them that the information was being publicly released as a result of a decision by the Tenth District Court of Appeals and the Ohio Court of Claims. The university identified the person who filed the initial public records request as a "ticket reseller/broker" who had filed suit against the university for denying access to the records in response to a request. Ohio State University sent this notice to football and men's basketball season ticket holders on Aug. 18, alerting them that limited information about their names and seat locations is being released due to a court order.While the university's notice does not identify the specific court case the order came from, documents filed by the Tenth District Court of Appeals and the Ohio Court of Claims show it relates to a case filed by a "John Doe." Ohio public records law allows anonymous requests. According to court records, the information, initially requested in 2023, included the mailing addresses, email addresses and telephone numbers of people who bought season tickets for those seasons. The initial requests sought information specifically about donors to the university who purchased season tickets, as well as faculty and staff. To purchase or be on the wait list for season tickets, a donation to the Buckeye Club is included in the cost, according to Ohio State's publicly available ticketing information. This makes all season ticket holders donors to the university. A special master with the Ohio Court of Claims determined that Ohio State should be required to fill a portion of the records request. The university would be allowed to redact information about students, along with the physical addresses and OSU identification numbers of the ticket holders. A judge adopted the special master's report and ordered the university to turn over the information. Ohio State appealed the decision to the Tenth District Court of Appeals, which handles cases in Franklin County. In December, the appeals court sided with the university and expanded the information that could be redacted to include email addresses and telephone numbers. The court said the information should not be public because it failed to "shed light on Ohio State's ticketing activities." "Any particular ticketholder's mailing address, email address or telephone number reveals little to nothing about Ohio State's activites with regard to ticketing," the appeals court said in the December decision. The person who filed the initial request appealed that decision to the Ohio Supreme Court, which decided not to hear the appeal. After being asked to reconsider, the Ohio Supreme Court in July reiterated its decision not to take up the case. That ruling meant Ohio State would be required to release the names and seat locations asked for in the public records request. Earlier this year I got the chance to drive an Everrati Porsche 911, which began life as a normal 964-generation Carrera before receiving a carbon-fiber RSR-style bodykit and an electric powertrain with double the power of the original flat-six engine. After blasting along Mulholland Drive and then sitting in Beverly Hills traffic, I thought the Everrati 911 was absolutely fantastic, and I've been very excited about the UK-based company's upcoming projects that founder and CEO Justin Lunny told me some tidbits about. I didn't have to wait very long, as on the last day of Monterey Car Week, Everrati announced the first details about its electric-converted 993, arguably the most beloved by enthusiasts of all the Porsche 911 generations. The Everrati 993 is initially launching as a Founders Edition that will be limited to nine units, with styling inspired by the super rare Turbo S. Compared to its 964s, Everrati says the electric 993 Founders Edition is all about refinement and grand touring, but still with an analog driving experience and tons of power. A single electric motor sends 760 horsepower and 597 pound-feet of torque to the rear wheels through a new rear differential, 120 hp and 7 lb-ft more than a new 911 Turbo S. Like with the 964, the 993's 63-kWh battery is split into two packs — one in the frunk and one under the rear engine cover — to keep the car's weight distribution the same as the gas 911's. It also weighs the same as a normal 993, thanks to the totally custom carbon-fiber body. As part of the conversion you get power steering, regenerative braking, configurable driver aids and drive mods, larger brakes, and a host of new OEM+ chassis components. Everrati says the 993 will be able to hit 60 mph in 3.3 seconds, about half a second quicker than the less-powerful 964, and it'll reach 100 mph in 8 seconds. It'll have a range of 200 miles, and 100-kW DC fast-charging capability that can take the car from 20% to 80% in about 25 minutes. It's got modern projector headlights, cool LED taillights, no exhaust tips, a slightly different rear wing, aftermarket wheels, and that's about it. Customers will be able to choose from a wide range of colors, both new shades and Porsche colors, or come up with something totally custom. We don't have any full interior pictures yet, but it has bespoke Alcantara and Bridge of Weir upholstery all over, Recaro Sportster CS seats (and folding rear seats!), a custom five-dial gauge cluster, Porsche's PCCM infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and an upgraded sound system, a new center console with a wireless charger, and all sorts of fun trim options. Everrati puts in a new, more powerful heating and air conditioning system. En el caso de la pensión para hijos, al menos en California, existe una fórmula relativamente sencilla: se introducen los ingresos de ambos padres y se obtiene una cifra sugerida. Sin embargo, cada vez más, los ingresos no provienen únicamente de un salario fijo. ¿Hay bonos de por medio? ¿Tu pareja es dueña de su negocio y puede modificar cuánto se paga a sí misma para reducir la pensión? ¿Uno de los padres podría ser considerado como “subempleado” porque tiene la capacidad de ganar más de lo que actualmente percibe? En estos casos, surge el concepto de “ingreso imputado”, y puede que se solicite una evaluación vocacional para determinar el potencial real de ingresos de una persona. No obstante, esos sacrificios, que beneficiaron a toda la familia, pueden ser interpretados tras el divorcio como “decisiones personales” cuando la otra parte no quiere pagar. Para obtener manutención conyugal, muchas veces hay que luchar y estar dispuesto a llegar a juicio. Todo esto se traduce en más honorarios legales. Acudir a los tribunales es el factor que más incrementa los costos. Por eso muchas personas intentan resolver su divorcio mediante mediación: es más económico y evita batallas judiciales prolongadas. Ir a juicio es caro porque los abogados deben presentar mociones, responder a las del contrario y facturar todas esas horas. Además, los procesos judiciales son lentos. Es posible que no se obtenga una fecha para audiencia hasta dentro de varios meses, a veces incluso un año. Mientras tanto, las disputas continúan y los asuntos financieros quedan sin resolver, lo que genera más estrés... y más horas facturables. This result, detailed in a new study led by Snehalata Sahu and Boris Gaensicke of the University of Warwick in the U.K., suggests that other "normal-looking" white dwarfs scattered throughout the universe could also have violent pasts. "It's a discovery that underlines things may be different from what they appear to us at first glance," Gaensicke, study co-author and a professor of physics at the University of Warwick who serves as the principal investigator of the Hubble program, said in a statement. "Until now, this appeared as a normal white dwarf, but Hubble's ultraviolet vision revealed that it had a very different history from what we would have guessed." A white dwarf merges with a red giant, creating a bow shock that strips its outer layers and exposes its carbon core. A new study reports that the white dwarf WD 0525+526 was likely formed through such a merger event, rather than through the normal life cycle of a single star. | Credit: NASA, ESA, STScI, Ralf Crawford (STScI)The star, named WD 0525+526, is located about 128 light-years from Earth. Though it appeared rather standard at first glance through visible light, further observations using the Hubble telescope revealed telltale signs of a more turbulent origin, the new study reports. White dwarfs are the dense remnants of stars like our sun that have exhausted their fuel supplies and collapsed into Earth-size objects. Despite their small size, however, they can pack in up to 1.4 times the mass of the sun. Most white dwarfs form from the predictable evolution of single stars nearing the final days of their life cycles, which is a path our own sun is expected to follow in about 5 billion years. However, WD 0525+526 may have followed a very different path. Instead of forming from one dying star, it appears to have emerged from the violent collision and merger of two stars. This dramatic past, the new study says, left subtle but detectable fingerprints in the white dwarf's atmospheric makeup. When Gaensicke and his team examined WD 0525+526 with Hubble's ultraviolet instruments, they detected an unusual amount of carbon in the star's atmosphere — a key sign the star was formed in a merger. Typically, white dwarfs have outer layers of hydrogen and helium that obscure their carbon-rich cores. But in mergers such as this one, the intense collision can strip away much of these outer layers, allowing carbon to rise to the surface. The signals of such stars are difficult to detect in visible light, but become clearer in ultraviolet wavelengths — and that's where Hubble excels. WD 0525+526 is remarkable even among the small number of white dwarfs known to be merger remnants, according to the statement. It has a surface temperature of nearly 21,000 Kelvin (about 37,000 degrees Fahrenheit) and a mass 1.2 times that of the sun, making it both hotter and more massive than others in this rare category, the study notes. Because WD 0525+526 appeared completely normal in visible light, astronomers now suspect that many more white dwarfs could be hiding similar explosive origins. "We would like to extend our research on this topic by exploring how common carbon white dwarfs are among similar white dwarfs, and how many stellar mergers are hiding among the normal white dwarf family," Antoine Bedrad, a researcher at the University of Warwick who co-led the study, said in the statement. One local baseball league is demanding answers after the bathrooms at one of the fields used by the organization were smashed into pieces. What was supposed to be a regular morning baseball practice at Durbin Park turned out to be anything but ordinary. “We walked into the park on Saturday morning to then find the women’s bathroom sinks and everything destroyed,” Shaunn Lobo said, League President of Julington Creek Baseball. “Shattered the mirrors in the men’s bathroom and shattered all of the sinks in the women’s bathroom.” Lobo tells Action News Jax he got a call about the bathrooms Saturday morning and immediately went up to the field to take a look for himself. He tells me this isn’t the first time something like this has happened to the bathrooms at Durbin Park. >>> STREAM ACTION NEWS JAX LIVE <<< “On July 4th, the next morning on July 5th, we walked into the park, and we noticed in several bathrooms in the women’s and in the men’s bathroom here that fireworks were set off,” Lobo said. Lobo filed police reports for both instances. He tells me that they are working with St. Johns County Parks and Recreation to try and get security cameras put in place. Now, he just hopes that whoever is doing this will be held accountable. “We really just want to come to the bottom of this and hope that it just doesn’t keep happening,” Lobo said. Desde que el término mankeeping fue introducido en un artículo académico en 2024 por la socióloga de la Universidad de Stanford, Angelica Ferrara, se ha instalado de lleno en el imaginario de 2025. El concepto, que se refiere al trabajo emocional que muchas mujeres realizan para sus parejas masculinas, ha polarizado a los géneros, desatado debates en TikTok y encendido discusiones en secciones de comentarios. Piensa en las esposas que son al mismo tiempo las mejores amigas, parejas románticas y hasta terapeutas de sus maridos. Tras conocer el término en redes sociales o en artículos virales, muchas mujeres dicen sentirse identificadas y reivindicadas: por fin, una palabra para describir el agotamiento difícil de cuantificar que implica estar en una relación heterosexual. Muchos hombres, en cambio, consideran que se les acusa injustamente de sobrecargar a sus parejas o que se está condenando un comportamiento “normal” dentro de la vida en pareja. Para Ferrara y su asistente de investigación, Dylan Vergara, que su trabajo haya entrado a la conversación cultural es significativo. Un fenómeno que no ha desaparecido y que, según algunos estudios, se intensificó con la pandemia y el teletrabajo. PUBLICIDADEl mankeeping, en cambio, describe ese mismo tipo de trabajo pero enfocado en apoyar de manera desproporcionada a los esposos o parejas hombres, más que a la familia en general. “Se trata de cómo los hombres dependen de las mujeres como su fuente principal de apoyo emocional, creando una carga extra para ellas”, explica Vergara. Ferrara y Vergara han entrevistado a casi 100 hombres en distintas partes del mundo. El hallazgo es recurrente: cuando se les pide que nombren a sus cinco principales fuentes de apoyo social y emocional, la mayoría coloca en primer lugar a sus esposas, novias o parejas. “Y muchas veces ni siquiera tienen cinco nombres que dar”, añade. En otras palabras, en lugar de tener un amigo con quien hablar de problemas laborales, otro para desahogarse sobre asuntos familiares y un hermano con quien comentar tensiones románticas, para muchos hombres heterosexuales todo recae en la misma persona: su pareja mujer. “En entrevistas hay un momento en que algunos se dan cuenta: ‘Oh, esto es mucho’ de lo que estoy pidiendo a mi compañera”, relata Vergara. El problema surge cuando es la única persona con quien los hombres hablan de manera vulnerable”. Las cifras respaldan la idea de que los hombres tienden a recurrir primero a sus parejas. Según el Survey Center on American Life, el 85% de los hombres casados acuden a su esposa antes que a amigos o familiares cuando necesitan apoyo personal, frente al 72% de las mujeres casadas. Y aunque la conexión emocional y el intercambio son parte de las relaciones sanas, la investigación sugiere que, a partir de cierto punto, el trabajo emocional puede agotar a las personas y aumentar el riesgo de problemas de salud mental y física. Mito 2: El mankeeping es culpa de los hombresAunque es fácil culpar a los individuos, Vergara sostiene que la raíz del problema es estructural. “Vemos el aislamiento como un fallo personal, pero en realidad es un tema social más amplio”, explica. Lo que alguna vez fue una infraestructura social vibrante para las relaciones masculinas prácticamente ha desaparecido. “Eso ha derivado en esta curaduría femenina del bienestar social y emocional masculino”, añade Vergara. El punto, entonces, es que la soledad masculina no es simplemente un fallo aislado de cada hombre, ni siquiera de los hombres como grupo. Ese amigo le señaló que había contado detalles de su vida a una amiga a la que conocía desde hacía solo seis meses, y que nunca había compartido con él, un amigo de varios años. “Estaba confiando en mi amiga para que fuera ese apoyo emocional. Yo estaba siendo ese hombre”, admite Vergara. Ese momento lo inspiró a intentar tratar mejor tanto a sus amigos como a sus amigas, abriéndose más con los hombres de su vida y descargando menos a las mujeres. ¿Cómo descarga menos a las mujeres? ¿Cómo puede hacerlo cualquier hombre? Todavía no existe una “receta” demasiado específica (aunque hay retiros para hombres y numerosos grupos de apoyo en línea por explorar). Pero Vergara, en lo personal, está intentando construir una base sólida. “Estoy tratando de vigilarme en los momentos en los que podría estar cayendo en el mankeeping”, explica. “Pero la estrategia más profunda es formular y mantener lazos cercanos con personas distintas a tu pareja”. Vergara no tiene pareja, pero está construyendo de manera constante su red de amistades y practica ser él quien dé el primer paso para acercarse a sus amigos hombres en particular. “Creo que eso ayuda mucho a garantizar que tengas múltiples vías de apoyo emocional, de modo que no recargues a una sola persona. Pienso que ese es mi camino a seguir”, concluye.
