That hasn’t changed with the recent arrival of the all-new Camry, now a hybrid-only sedan with a fresh look. But as good as the Camry is, it’s by no means the only capable sedan in this segment. The Kia K5—which replaced the Optra—is an aggressively styled rival with a few tricks up its sleeve that even the best-selling Camry can’t match. Here are five key differences between these midsize sedans. 1. Camry Is Newer, But K5 Is Still The Looker Of The Segment View the 4 images of this gallery on the original article Yes, design is subjective, but the Kia K5 is one of the most striking midsize sedans on sale right now, alongside its cousin, the Hyundai Sonata. From its aggressive mesh grille to the elaborate LED signature lighting and the coupe-like roofline, it’s a far bolder aesthetic than conservative rivals like the Honda Accord and Subaru Legacy. The GT-Line and GT are especially eye-catching, with details like a more assertive radiator grille and black trim. To its credit, Toyota has done well to shed the Camry’s conservative image. The new one has angry-looking headlights, a big grille, and a new Nightshade Edition for 2026, which adds dark elements to the exterior. It’s a much more appealingly styled sedan than the Camry used to be, but it’s still not as fetching as the confident K5. 2. That’s a 170% increase over the same period last year, and contributes to Kia achieving its best-ever first-half sales in the country. But as well as the K5 has been performing, the Camry remains an absolute juggernaut. Toyota has sold 155,330 Camrys in the first half of 2025, almost exactly as many as it managed last year. In June alone, the company moved over 25,000 Camrys, demonstrating just how much the new generation is resonating with buyers. Toyota’s Standard Hybrid Bests Kia’s Base Four-CylinderTariffs are making it harder to find affordable cars, so it’s more important than ever for the Camry and K5 to be competitive in standard form, not only once you’ve worked your way up the trim ladder. In the areas of performance and efficiency, the base Camry easily trounces the equivalent K5. The Toyota Camry lineup is now hybrid-only, with the main source of power being a 2.5-liter four-cylinder. Together with the electric motors, the front-wheel-drive Camry makes 225 horsepower combined, or 232 hp with optional all-wheel drive. Based on independent testing, an AWD Camry hit 60 mph in 6.8 seconds, yet it achieves remarkable efficiency of 51/49/50 mpg city/highway/combined. The FWD is even more efficient at up to 53/50/51 mpg, giving the Camry a near-unbeatable combination of performance and economy. The base Kia K5 is rather pedestrian, by comparison. Its 2.5-liter four-pot makes 191 hp and 181 lb-ft, and independent tests put the 0-60 time at around 8.5 seconds. According to the EPA, the base K5 returns 26/37/30 mpg, which is good but nowhere near as efficient as the Camry. With AWD, expect the Kia to get 24/33/27 mpg. If you’re considering one of these sedans in base form, the Toyota’s powertrain crushes the Kia’s. 4. Only the K5 Has A Proper Performance TrimIf you have a bigger budget and are after some excitement in your midsize sedan, the picture changes considerably. Toyota no longer sells a V6-powered Camry, nor does it offer a Camry in sporty TRD guise. The AWD model is only 7 hp more powerful than the FWD one, so the impact on performance is negligible. Kia, however, will sell you the spicy K5 GT for $33,490, only a little more than the Camry SE AWD. The main change here is that Kia has strapped a turbocharger to its 2.5L engine, raising outputs to 290 hp and 311 lb-ft. That makes a world of difference, as the GT can reach 60 in only 5.2 seconds. But the K5 GT is not merely a normal K5 with more power. It’s also got a fast eight-speed dual-clutch automatic with paddle shifters that adds to the fun, along with a sport-tuned suspension. Being FWD only, it can struggle for traction if you’re not careful with the throttle, but its naughty nature does make it more exciting to drive. Sitting on shiny 19-inch wheels and with quad exhaust tips jutting out at the back, the K5 GT will make you smile in a way that no new Camry can. 5. Kia’s K5 Is Cheaper And Has A Better WarrantyAt first glance, the Kia K5 looks like the better deal since the 2026 model starts at $27,390. The 2026 Camry, meanwhile, begins at $29,000. In the base K5, you also get a bigger standard touchscreen than in the Camry, while the better-equipped K5 GT-Line is still cheaper than the base Camry at $28,390. However, we feel that the base Camry’s more powerful and vastly more efficient engine gives it the advantage and makes it well worth the higher price. The cheapest Kia K5 with AWD costs $29,990, while the most affordable Camry AWD is $30,525. The 2026 Camry range goes all the way up to $36,725 for the XSE AWD variant, while the most expensive K5 is the EX at $34,890. At $33,490, the Kia K5 GT is our pick as the best-value individual model when assessing both ranges. It’s very quick, packed with features, and looks fantastic. Our main gripe with it is that it doesn’t have AWD. In terms of warranty coverage, the Kia comes with a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, far surpassing the Toyota’s five-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty. In our view, the Toyota is a better bet at the lower end of the price range, primarily due to its punchy and thrifty hybrid powertrain. This is the biggest difference between two cars that are otherwise fairly evenly matched. AWD availability could also sway your decision. If this is essential, the Camry’s five AWD trims provide a lot more choice than the K5’s single AWD derivative. If you have $33k or more to spend—and especially if you’re looking for a more exciting commute—the K5 GT is a no-brainer. It’s far quicker than any version of the Camry, yet it still ticks the essential boxes that matter when buying a family car. The big question so many are asking is do those problems originate within the team, the drivers, or external sabotage of some sort. Comedian Jay Leno crashes a car meet in his new Ford Mustang GTD. According to Mercedes’ George Russell, part of the problem might have to do with how Ferrari set up the SF-25 racecars. Talking after Hungarian Grand Prix, the driver made the explosive claim that Charles Leclerc’s car was “close to being illegal” before the team changed the setup, reports Planet F1. He theorized the Italians increased the tire pressure and changed the engine mode to prevent another disqualification. The result was Leclerc was driving at a much slower pace later in the race. The whole point of that setup, which slowed down the car, was to reduce plank wear. Considering that’s been an issue for Ferrari this season, most famously at the Chinese GP, he might be right. It certainly beats the more exotic theories of sabotage and whatnot floating around the internet currently. In the meantime, team principal Fred Vasseur stated an investigation into what happened in Hungary. There are many other problems erupting for the team, but one of the most troubling is accusations it’s helping Leclerc more than seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton. That’s been an accusation thrown around since trouble began this season. But when Gian Carlo Minardi, a former F1 team owner who knows the motorsport better than most, openly postulates it might be true, that causes waves. Speaking with Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, he said his understanding is “Lewis is complaining about things that were promised to him, but haven’t arrived.” While Hamilton has shouldered much of the blame for his performance this year while in public, it seems Minardi believes behind closed doors and in the right company the driver will admit he’s being forsaken. The Ferrari 250 GTO is one of the greatest sports cars of all time, and might even be one of the five greatest, most painted Rosso Cina. The sole 250 GTO to leave the factory painted white is now heading to auction. The Bianco Speciale will be up for sale in Kissimmee, Florida, in January, and will also be on display at Monterey Car Week in California next weekend. The 1962 250 GTO has been “maintained, repaired and refinished, but never restored,” according to Mecum. The auction house has not provided an estimate, but the Bianco Speciale will almost certainly fetch a price in the eight-figures, with the most recent sale of a 250 GTO fetching nearly $52 million in 2023. The Cadillac XT5 has been on sale for almost a decade without a significant update, leading many to speculate that the automaker would discontinue the SUV in the near future. We recently reported on speculation that the next-generation Cadillac XT5 would arrive in North America for the 2027 model year. But now we have official confirmation. The Detroit Free Press obtained a memo sent to the local United Auto Workers union chapter, which states that the current XT5 will continue production through the 2026 calendar year, with the next-generation 2027 model kicking off late in the year. It will be built at GM’s Spring Hill Assembly Plant in Tennessee, which was once occupied by Saturn. CadillacThe updated XT5 won’t be new from the ground up. It will carry on with the same platform that underpins the current model, but the SUV may get the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and mild-hybrid setup used in the Chinese variant. It offers 233 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque and pairs with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Cadillac is plowing ahead with new electric models like the Vistiq, Optiq, and Escalade IQ, but its decision to keep the XT5 on sale and retain an internal combustion powertrain aligns with General Motors’ shifting electrification plans. FILLMORE, Utah (ABC4) — In early June, Millard County approved a rezone that will bring the world’s largest data center to central Utah. On June 3, 2025, the Millard County Commission unanimously voted in favor of a rezone, appropriating over 1,100 acres of agricultural land to heavy industrial. The center would be house high-density data banks which can be leased to major tech corporations for a number of uses including artificial intelligence. Rezoning the property paved the way for Fibernet MercuryDelta to construct what they’re calling the largest data center in the U.S. The property in question is found near the intersection of 4500 South and Highway 50 in Delta. One nearby resident of the potential data center, Kyle Ashby, voiced concerns over water usage. “What’s troubling is the actual amount of water hasn’t been clearly defined or publicly released.” Millard County has approved a multi-billion dollar artificial intelligence data center Jarvis Jones, another nearby resident, feels the project could set a dangerous precedent. “This zoning could create a domino effect, inviting further industrial development,” Jones said during the June commission meeting. Millard County commissioners pointed to economic benefits in favor of the data center, including Commissioner Bill Wright who highlighted the “significant benefits a large company could bring to the county.” Wright says benefits could include job creation and increased tax revenue. The project is not the only one of its kind coming to Millard County. On Aug. 5, 2025, the Millard County Commission approved the rezone that will bring another major data center to the county. BERLIN (AP) — A motorist was clocked driving at more than 320 kph (199 mph) on the Autobahn west of Berlin, a record high at more than 124 mph above the speed limit, German police said. The speedster, who was not identified, was caught while racing along the A2 highway near Burg on July 28. The driver was handed a fine of 900 euros ($1,043), stripped of two points from his driver’s license and banned from driving for three months, the Magdeburg police office said Tuesday. A roadside radar stand, known as an “Enforcement Trailer,” caught the motorist in a routine check. A reading from its display showed “the highest record speed” of 321 kph, police said. Germany's famed Autobahn motorways have captured fascination and interest around the world for their lack of speeding limits. German authorities and driving clubs have argued over the years about whether the policy should continue. Limitless speeds aren’t universal on the Autobahn, though, as parts of the motorway are subject to speed limits. Virginia Democratic gubernatorial candidate Abigail Spanberger took $50,000 from a Chinese businessman tied to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), according to campaign finance records. The donations came in two $25,000 installments in April and May from Pin Ni, president of Wanxiang America, the U.S. arm of Chinese automotive conglomerate Wanxiang Group, which has deep ties to the CCP. Wanxiang Group posthumously awarded the company’s founder, Lu Guanqiu, the title of "National Outstanding Communist Party Member" in a 2021 press release and praised Guanqiu for his "pursuit of communism as a lifelong ideal and practice." The press release also said Guanqiu, the late father-in-law of Pin Ni, "has always listened to the [Chinese Communist] Party and followed the Party," a Fox News Digital review found. The press release continued by quoting Chinese President Xi Jinping's praise of Guanqiu, saying he was "in line with the Party Central Committee. He always actively does what our Party committees and governments at all levels advocate." Former Virginia Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D) leads Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears (R) in the state’s gubernatorial race, according to the latest polling average from Decision Desk HQ (DDHQ). Spanberger leads with an average of 45.2 percent support, while Earle-Sears trails with an average of 36 percent support. The latest averages remain unchanged from last month. The most recent poll of the governor’s race released last month by the Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University showed Spanberger leading Earle-Sears with 49 percent support to the lieutenant governor’s 37 percent among registered voters in the state. According to Decision Desk HQ, Earle-Sears has not led in a single poll this year. The nonpartisan Cook Political Report rates the race as “lean Democratic.” Virginia Republicans have raised red flags about their chances in the state’s gubernatorial race, pointing to Earle-Sears significantly trailing Spanberger in fundraising and polls. Last month, Spanberger also reported a massive second-quarter fundraising haul of $10.7 million. Earle-Sears’s campaign announced that Thursday marked its “best single fundraising day” since its launch in September, but it did not publicly disclose how much it had raised. A 14-year-old Florida teenager killed his parents in their Middleburg home and walked to a church where he called 911 shortly after midnight and waited for deputies, Clay County Sheriff Michelle Cook said. The Sheriff's Office found Trevor Lee at Cross Pointe Church Aug. 4 where he was taken into custody without incident, according to the arrest report. The church was about a mile away from the home in the area of Silver Point and County Road 220, where his parents, 44-year-old David K. Lee and 45-year-old Brandi L. Smith were found dead. Here's what we know so far: What happened in the incident where 14-year-old Florida teen killed his parents?Trevor Lee called 911 and told the dispatcher he shot his parents, where deputies could find them at their home and that he was waiting at a church about a mile away. Clay County Sheriff Michelle Cook said Aug. 4 that the incident stemmed from a domestic argument the night before and that the firearm was believed to belong to Lee's parents. The gun was recovered at the home. Who called 911? Calls from 14-year-old Trevor Lee, sister in CaliforniaTrevor Eugene Lee stayed on the line with a Clay County dispatcher for 21 minutes and 49 seconds, revealing what happened to his parents and talking about how he needed to pray and even asked the dispatcher if she could pray for him. Lee appeared to remain calm and polite during the call. Much of it has been redacted for privacy and investigative statutes. The other 911 call appeared to come from Ayanna Russell, Lee's sister, who lives in California. It's 38 minutes and 21 seconds, but much more is redacted and often difficult to understand. She's also crying hysterically in some of it. Action News Jax spoke with Russell, who said their family dynamic was normal when she lived with them. She said her brother was a good kid, "a bright young man" with lots of friends. She said she wasn't aware of any issues between her brother and parents and had no idea about the argument. "Trevor isn’t a bad person, he made some bad mistakes and he’ll suffer the consequences for it, but that’s not all he was. I don’t want him to be known as a killer or murderer. For the suicide threat, it stated "Trevor," who went to McRae Elementary, was going to cut his throat. His active-duty Navy father said he scheduled a psychiatric appointment for him. The disturbance report said the father held a female against her will and wouldn't give her items back and made some redacted references to not wanting to go back "to the naval base because 'she is going to embarrass both of us.'"
