Vợ chồng Hứa Tấn Hanh thậm chí trở thành đề tài bàn tán, chế giễu trong giới thượng lưu Hong Kong. Tuy nhiên, đằng sau quyết định tưởng chừng lạnh lùng ấy lại là sự am hiểu tính cách con trai và tầm nhìn dài hạn nhằm bảo vệ danh tiếng gia tộc của tỷ phú Hứa Thế Huân. 16h30 chiều nay (13/8), sau khi được thay đổi biện pháp ngăn chặn từ tạm giam sang tại ngoại, cấm đi khỏi nơi cư trú, bị cáo Thái Khắc Thành (SN 1980) đã về đến quê nhà ở xóm Thịnh Tâm, xã Đô Lương, tỉnh Nghệ An. Ngày 13/8, tiền đạo Nguyễn Văn Toàn bước vào ca phẫu thuật chấn thương sụn chêm. Ca phẫu thuật thành công sau hơn 1 giờ đồng hồ. Sau phẫu thuật, Văn Toàn ở lại bệnh viện tại TP.HCM 1-2 ngày để kiểm tra, sau đó anh được xuất viện và bắt đầu bước vào tiến trình tập luyện hồi phục. HLV Vũ Hồng Việt gọi điện động viên Văn Toàn. In 2008, BMW hatched an oddly shaped duck. The X6 didn’t make a lick of sense when viewed through the lens of practicality. Its appearance divided opinions immediately; some were attracted to the idea of a portly SUV with limited usefulness – the barge-size personal luxury coupes of the 1970s set the unnecessary excess precedent – while others were put off by the fact that BMW pitched the fastback as a premium option that was priced higher than the equally luxurious but more useful X5. When the M-badged variant appeared in 2010, the idea of a four-person performance car that weighed more than 5,200 pounds sounded like a terrible idea on paper, and Robb Report’s team of voters placed it in 11th place in its annual Car of the Year voting … out of 11 entries. Turns out paper spec sheets are a terrible way to measure a vehicle’s worth in the real world. After spending a year with a bright red X6 M, our editors had a very different opinion of BMW’s high-riding hatchback utility vehicle. We’ll stop short of calling it a swan, but considering its prodigious power and irrational speed, the BMW X6 M is more like a falcon in fowling feathers. It may not make sense on paper, but it works way better than you’d imagine, a dichotomy that made the X6 and especially the M-fettled version one of the most controversial cars of its time. BMW led the way with its original X5, and Porsche cemented the notion with ultra-powerful versions of the Cayenne that shocked purists in the mid-2000s. But BMW’s M badge had yet to make its way from coupes and sedans to utility vehicles. The X6 M and its more practical X5 M sibling were the first of their kind, but as we know by now, certainly not the last. If you’re into measuring performance down to hundredths of a second, the X6 M’s lower weight and center of gravity made it ever-so-slightly quicker than the X5 M. And both of them stacked up favorably to their competitors from Stuttgart. Not only were the X Series machines the first SUVs from M, they were also the first to be fitted with a turbocharger. BMW’s S63B44O0 engine spins out 555 horsepower and 501 pound-feet of torque, which is enough grunt to shove the X6 M to 60 miles per hour in just 4.5 seconds. For those keeping track, which in 2010 was absolutely everyone who was shopping for an ultra-performance SUV, BMW’s M-badged SUV duo were slightly more powerful than the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S and around $30,000 less expensive. It Was the First M-Tuned Vehicle With All-Wheel DriveIt Was the First M-Tuned Vehicle With All-Wheel DriveA proper sports car sends its herd of horses to the rear wheels. But the X6 M wasn’t a car, it was an SUV, and that means all four wheels put power to the ground. As was the case with the turbocharger, all-wheel drive has since spread across BMW’s M-badged lineup, but the X Series was the first. As you’d expect from a brand with BMW’s gaggle of engineers, the X6 M’s xDrive system was quite smart. BMW programmed it to send more power to the rear wheels than the front, which makes sense considering its track-first mission and the fact that, unlike other X models, the M-ified SUVs weren’t made for the mud. Coupled with adaptive suspension technology and wide, sticky tires, the X6 M could lap the Nürburgring in less time than an E46 M3. Not only was it a utility vehicle with all-wheel drive, it was also the first M-badged machine that didn’t offer a manual transmission option. Sure, the M3 had been equipped with an optional five-speed automatic, but those looking for the ultimate in speed stuck with the stick. Thing is, a well-tuned automatic with enough gears and the proper electronic brain is, ahem, faster than a human with their foot on the clutch and their hand on the shifter. Naturally, there’s more to driving enjoyment than outright speed. But if elapsed times and personal bests are what you’re after, the automatic gearbox in the BMW X6 M delivers the goods. It’s more than just a means of transferring spent gases from the engine to the piping that exits out the back of the vehicle. In the case of BMW’s turbocharged V8 in the X6 M, the turbochargers reside between the engine’s heads in a “hot-vee” arrangement. BMW’s M division engineered an exhaust manifold that resides between the engine’s twin cylinder banks and that is tuned to time each exhaust pulse so that it optimally spins the two twin-scroll turbochargers. It sounds complicated because it is complicated. And, as you’d expect, patented. With their impressive list of first-ever platitudes, the M-fettled X twins stand out for bringing BMW’s M badge into the modern age. Jeffrey Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2021, but her attorney is lobbying to secure an early release. Who is the man representing Maxwell? David Oscar Markus has been Maxwell's attorney dating back to her trial in 2021, when she was sentenced to 20 years in prison for her role in a scheme to sexually exploit and abuse young girls with Epstein. Markus has continued to represent Maxwell and was involved in interviews between the Department of Justice and Maxwell, which took place in late-July over a two-day period. Following the interviews, Maxwell was transferred from a federal prison facility in Tallahassee, Florida, to a Federal Prison camp in Bryan, Texas. Neither the Department of Justice nor Maxwell's attorney explained why she was transferred. Markus previously told Fox News Digital that "people shouldn't be so quick to judge and throw stones" after Maxwell's move to a minimum security prison camp. Former Florida Democrat gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum was also among Markus' clients, turning to the lawyer when he was facing corruption charges. Federal prosecutors alleged the former Tallahassee mayor took illegal gifts and picketed campaign money. Federal prosecutors dismissed the corruption charges after Gillum was acquitted on one count, with the jury hung on the remaining charges. Markus also represented Tom Grady, a Naples, Florida-based attorney who was accused of obstructing waters in the Florida Keys, according to Naples News. In January 2014, Grady filed applications with state agencies to build a dock and two boat lifts, but the U.S. government claimed federal permits were necessary. Prosecutors alleged the dock and two boat lifts violated the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899, which barred any bridge or dam from being built over some navigable waters. A jury in 2021 found him not guilty of the violations. As Epstein's death and previous criminal cases were brought back into the spotlight, Markus has made an effort to get Maxwell out of jail. Maxwell in late July filed a brief with the Supreme Court asking justices to consider her appeal, which seeks a ruling on Jeffrey Epstein's non-prosecution agreement signed in 2007. The agreement states that "the United States also agrees that it will not institute any criminal charges against any potential co-conspirators of Epstein." Maxwell argued that the agreement would have prevented federal prosecution in New York. But you’ll want to motor west to Springfield, roughly 200 miles from the Windy City, to find the best of the Mother Road. “The big cities don’t have as much of a Route 66 feel because they don’t rely on something like that for tourism,” says author Joe Sonderman, who has written 13 books about the iconic highway, which celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2026. Sonderman adds, “Chicago has its Route 66 spots, but when you get to Springfield, you really feel it.” The Illinois capital boasts dozens of sites linked to the Main Street of America, from old diners and vintage gas pumps to new attractions, like a quarter-mile stretch of the original road that debuted as a walking trail this summer. Learn about Black historyAn old Texaco gas station has been transformed into a classroom of sorts, with exhibits and technology telling stories of the Black experience on Route 66 during the Jim Crow and Civil Rights eras. Book an appointment in advance at the Route History Museum for a 20-minute virtual reality session. You’ll don a headset to travel back in time to Illinois cities featured in The Negro Motorist Green Book, a guide directing Black travelers to safe businesses in the racially segregated Jim Crow era, as well as “sundown towns” that were dangerous for Blacks after dark. “It’s a unique Route 66 story you don’t find being told in a lot of places,” Dahl says. New kicks on 66Mother Nature had almost reclaimed a section of Springfield’s original Route 66 alignment, a 16-foot-wide concrete ribbon wending through the woods. As of July, it once again started welcoming traffic—foot traffic—when it reopened as a walking trail in Carpenter Park. “It’s a quarter mile of untouched pavement,” Cannon says about this segment of the route, which was abandoned in 1936 in favor of a four-lane alternative. “Now you can see what people first drove on: this little, narrow road, the original superhighway,” he adds. Another new Route 66 attraction revolves around former Springfield resident Bob Waldmire, a nomadic hippie and artist whose detailed maps, postcards, and murals are known around the globe. “For a lot of people, Bob Waldmire epitomizes Route 66,” Cannon says. The Fillmore character in Disney-Pixar’s Cars movie franchise was modeled after Waldmire and his 1972 Volkswagen van. The yellow VW Microbus is on display at the Illinois Route 66 Hall of Fame & Museum in Pontiac, about 100 miles northeast of the state capital. In the 1940s, Ed Waldmire Jr. created the cozy dog, a battered, deep-fried hot dog on a stick. He sold the crunchy concoction at his Cozy Dog Drive-In on Route 66. More than 75 years later, the Waldmire family still uses Ed’s batter recipe to make its requisite Route 66 treat at Springfield’s retro diner, where you can wash down a cozy dog with a bottle of Route 66 Root Beer. You also can stock up on plenty of Mother Road merch, including Route 66 postcards designed by Bob. (Fun fact: Bob was a vegan.) As you might guess from its name, a lot more than food is on the menu at Route 66 Motorheads Bar & Grill, Museum and Entertainment Complex. The sprawling compound is tricked out with neon signs, memorabilia, classic cars and what claims to be the world’s largest Route 66 emblem. Save room—lots of room—for Motorheads’ spin on a Springfield staple, the horseshoe. It’s an open-faced sandwich of thick slabs of toasted bread topped with meat, fries, and cheese sauce. The horseshoe name stems from the shape of the cut of ham used in the original sandwich, first served in 1928 at a now defunct hotel on Route 66. Some of Motorheads’ Route 66 artifacts were salvaged from Shea’s Gas Station. The old filling station was turned into a beloved museum by its owner, auto enthusiast, and collector Bill Shea. After Shea’s death in 2013, the building was sold, and its contents were put on the auction block. But like other treasures on Route 66, Shea’s is making a comeback. A recent hack you probably haven’t heard of put unknown numbers of vehicle owners at risk, and they have absolutely no idea. GM is pushing hard on autonomous vehicle tech. Recently, a white hat hacker, or in other words a guy who hacks systems to let companies know about their flaws, was able to remotely unlock car doors and view customers’ private data. That’s concerning, but we find it equally disturbing that the hacker won’t reveal the identity of the automaker. The only thing he told TechCrunch about the incident is that the automaker has “several popular sub-brands.” That certainly shortens the list, with GM, Volkswagen, and Stellantis all coming up prominently. Rather than hacking into the cars directly, this guy who works as a security researcher did it through the online dealership portal. Once he got in, he was able to create an admin account, which gave him “unfettered access” to anything in the portal. Not only could he see the personal info of car owners and remotely unlock doors, he could track vehicle locations and more. In the hands of a theft ring, those kinds of capabilities could be devastating. Even in the hands of some kid who just wants to watch the world burn, that kind of security flaw wouldn’t be good. This revelation comes as automakers keep trying to push more and more tech into vehicles. While some people want that, with the security risks, the lack of longevity of the technologies, and the general user difficulty of the systems has created quite the pushback. There’s been a lot of talk of mass hacks of cars for a long time. While that hasn’t happened, yet, we wonder if the clock isn’t ticking on that one.
