A Kansas City police officer received non-life-threatening injuries Wednesday after a vehicle pursuit led to two collisions.

Around 2:45 p.m., Kansas City police officers responded to a vehicle collision, according to a press release from Kansas City Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Phillip DiMartino.

A preliminary investigation revealed officers were pursuing a silver BMW that was taken during an apparent armed robbery/carjacking, according to the press release.

The BMW was traveling the wrong way on Askew Avenue before striking an unoccupied gold Buick Enclave parked at Anderson Avenue and Askew Avenue, according to the press release.

The BMW continued on Askew before entering an intersection and was struck by a marked police Dodge Durango, according to the press release. The BMW continued on before striking a light pole and coming to a stop.

The uninjured driver of the BMW was taken into custody after a foot pursuit, according to the press release. The officer driving the Dodge Durango received non-life-threatening injuries and declined medical treatment.

The investigation into the crashes is ongoing, the press release said.
