Sheriff’s Office provides safety warning after ‘Shake and bake’ meth cooking device found at Tennessee Home

GILES COUNTY, Tenn. (WHNT) — A Sheriff’s Office in Tennessee is warning residents to stay away from “shake and bake” meth cooking devices.

Over the weekend, Investigators with the Giles County Sheriff’s Department responded to a home where they found a plastic bottle with tubes coming out of it.

Tennessee Authorities believe that it is a home-made device used to cook methamphetamine and is part of a process commonly referred to as the one-pot method or the “Shake and Bake Method.”

Giles County Officials told News 19 that the shake and bake method of creating methamphetamine carries a significant risk for explosions, chemical burns and poisoning.

Additionally, authorities said that the gases produced from this method can be lethal.

Authorities are reminding the public to not move or manipulate one of these devices if you find them.
