A 52-year-old man died after his car was hit by a truck that was attempting to avoid crashing into another vehicle in Northeast El Paso, authorities said.

A 2017 Ford F150 driven by a 49-year-old woman from Chaparral, New Mexico, was driving south about 5:30 a.m., Monday, Aug. 18, in the 13100 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard in Northeast El Paso near the Texas-New Mexico stateline, El Paso Police Department spokesperson Detective Judy Oviedo wrote in a news release.

The woman swerved to avoid a crash, resulting in her losing control of her truck. The truck went into oncoming traffic and crashed into a 2016 Hyundai Elantra driven by 52-year-old Oscar Lopez, of El Paso, and a 2019 Toyota Camry driven by a 59-year-old El Paso man, the news release states.
