Kentucky woman allegedly admits to trying to kill mother in fire

FAIRFIELD, Ky. (FOX 56) — A woman was arrested after allegedly setting a home on fire on Saturday in Nelson County.

The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office said officers were dispatched around 9:37 p.m. to a structure fire on Little Union Road in Fairfield.

The office said 33-year-old Sarah Shelburne, of Fairfield, was taken to the sheriff’s office and interviewed.

According to an arrest citation, Shelburne admitted to pouring two bottles of rubbing alcohol on a dresser and piles of clothes on the floor, setting the fire, and leaving.

Shelborne allegedly told officers she had thought about lighting the home on fire and killing her mother and her mother’s boyfriend most of the day.

Shortly after the interview, Shelburne allegedly spat on an officer’s face and threatened to kick all of his teeth out.

LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

Shelburne was taken to Nelson County Correctional Center and charged with first-degree arson, two counts of attempted murder, third-degree assault of a police officer, third-degree terroristic threatening, and two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment.

The investigation is ongoing.
