A Brand That Goes Around

Karma Automotive has seen its share of changes in direction, shifting from the original Fisker Karma lineage to a series of low-volume, high-style grand tourers. Public updates on the company have been sporadic, with appearances in the headlines being few and far between.

The last major Karma news arrived earlier this year when the California-based automaker previewed the Amaris, an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) luxury coupe. That reveal focused on the exterior, introducing a new iteration of the brand’s design language.

Now, Karma is back in the spotlight for Monterey Car Week, revealing the Amaris’ interior for the first time. The car will be displayed at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, and later on the Concept Lawn at Pebble Beach.

A First Look Inside the Amaris

The Amaris’ cabin adopts a driver-focused approach with a blend of modern technology and high-end materials. At the center of the experience is a square-ish tiller wrapped in exposed carbon fiber and equipped with capacitive touch controls. It sits ahead of a digital gauge cluster, while a low-mounted central infotainment screen manages primary functions.

A secondary display faces the passenger, concealed until activated. The center console features a floating gear selector and a leather-covered ignition start button hidden beneath a hinged panel.

The example for Monterey is a two-seat configuration finished in Crimson Orbit leather and suede. Carbon fiber and piano black accents are used extensively, from the center console to the rear support brace. Designers have sculpted the rear compartment to fit luggage.

An electrochromatically adjustable glass roof spans the cabin, and “orbit” design elements visually separate driver and passenger zones. Other details include concealed cupholders beneath the wireless phone charger and ambient lighting that changes with drive mode.

Beyond the Cabin

The Amaris rides on an all-aluminum space frame with a carbon fiber and aluminum body, wearing the latest evolution of Karma’s Comet Line design language. The show car, in Solar Blaze Red, features 22-inch forged aluminum Constellation wheels, a clamshell hood with integrated Target Lighting, swan doors, and an aero pass-through rear spoiler.

Power comes from two rear-mounted electric motors paired with a 41.5-kWh battery and a turbocharged four-cylinder generator, producing 708 horsepower and 676 pound-feet of torque. Karma claims a 0-60 mph time of under 3.4 seconds, a 165-mph electronically limited top speed, more than 100 miles of electric range, and over 400 miles combined range.

Production of the Amaris is scheduled to start in the fourth quarter of 2026, with pricing expected to begin around $200,000 for the 2027 model year.
