There was a reason Buffalo Bills running back James Cook returned to practice Tuesday. Turns out, Cook and the Bills had something in the works behind the scenes, as the 25-year-old running back reportedly inked a four-year, $48 million extension Wednesday, according to multiple reports.

The deal reportedly contains $30 million in guaranteed money, the most given to a running back over the last five seasons, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Cook was seeking a new deal after rushing for 1,009 yards and scoring a career-high 16 touchdowns last season.

This story will be updated.
