How to celebrate 816 Day in Kansas City: deals, food, events and more

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — This Saturday marks 816 Day across the Kansas City metro, as many pay homage and celebrate the city’s area code on August 16.

As usual, there will be many ways for people throughout the area to participate in events, enjoy deals on food and more.

Here is a list of notable events:

KC Power & Light District

The Power & Light District will be hosting an 816 Day celebration from noon to 9 p.m.
There will be a vendor market, kids activities, live entertainment, food trucks and more

The City Market will be hosting their annual Art in the Loop event from 6-8 p.m.
Art in the Loop will consist of live performances ranging from folk to hip hop

They will have a full day events including a run club, vendor market, a visit from the Kansas City Zoo and live music in Electric Park
There will also be cocktail and food specials all day, including $8.16 drink specials
This all takes place from 10 a.m.-10 p.m.

Zona Rosa is hosting an 816 Block Party at Central Park from 3-7 p.m.
There will live music, live mural painting, food trucks, and special 816 Day deals
If you show a same day receipt from any Zona Rosa store or restaurant, you get a limited edition 816 tote

The new Creekside District in Parkville will have local vendors, live music, special guests and a KC Current Teal Mobile from noon to 9 p.m.

Designing Women will be performing at Unicorn Theatre from Sep. 3-28, they will give away a free pair of tickets to celebrate 816 Day
