STONINGTON, Conn. – A diver from Westerly died after he was found unresponsive and pulled from the water in Stonington on Saturday, Aug. 1, according to the Stonington Police Department.

Joel Trebisacci, 47, was recovered from the water at the Stonington Town Fishing Dock at about 9:18 a.m., according to Stonington Deputy Police Chief Todd Olson. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation was administered, and Trebisacci was taken to Westerly Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, Olson said in a press statement.

The incident is under investigation by the Stonington Police Department, the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration, according to Olson.
