2,2 triệu USD và chia thưởng không đều Giải vô địch bóng chuyền nữ thế giới 2025 (FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Championship; 22/8-7/9) tại Thái Lan khởi tranh với tổng quỹ thưởng lên tới 2,2 triệu USD (gần 58 tỷ đồng). Con số này nghe rất ấn tượng, đủ để FIVB quảng bá rằng bóng chuyền nữ đang dần được đối xử công bằng với bóng đá, quần vợt hay các môn thể thao có sức hút toàn cầu. Tuyển nữ bóng chuyền Việt Nam lần đầu dự giải thế giới Nhưng nếu nhìn kỹ cơ chế phân bổ, câu hỏi lớn được đặt ra: các đội nhỏ, những đội lần đầu tiên dự giải như Việt Nam, nhận được gì ngoài trải nghiệm? Theo công bố từ FIVB, tiền thưởng tập trung vào 3 vị trí cao nhất: đội vô địch nhận 1 triệu USD, á quân 500.000 USD và hạng ba 250.000 USD. Tổng cộng 1,75 triệu USD nằm gọn trong tay 3 đội mạnh nhất giải. Phần còn lại, nếu có, hoặc được chia nhỏ cho giải cá nhân (Cầu thủ xuất sắc nhất, đội hình tiêu biểu…), hoặc không được nêu rõ. Điều này đồng nghĩa rằng phần lớn 32 đội tham dự, gồm tuyển bóng chuyền nữ Việt Nam, ít có cơ hội chạm vào quỹ thưởng. Sự "chênh lệch" thể hiện rõ nếu so sánh với Volleyball Nations League (VNL), giải đấu thường niên của FIVB với các đội tuyển nam. Ở VNL, mỗi trận thắng vòng bảng mang về 9.500 USD, trong khi đội thua cũng được 4.250 USD. Nghĩa là ngay cả những đội “lót đường” vẫn có phần thưởng cụ thể cho từng màn trình diễn. Đây chính là động lực khích lệ và là cơ chế công bằng hơn nhiều so với World Championship, nơi chỉ “đỉnh kim tự tháp” mới được hưởng lợi. Đặt vào bối cảnh tuyển nữ Việt Nam, trong lần đầu tiên trong lịch sử dự giải, các học trò HLV Nguyễn Tuấn Kiệt có cơ hội tạo nên “trận thắng để đời” trước Kenya, đối thủ được coi là ngang tầm nhất trong bảng G. Nhưng có thể, ngay cả khi thắng được Kenya, phần thưởng trực tiếp nhận được từ FIVB gần như bằng 0. Chỉ được vỗ tay khích lệ? Một thực tế khác cũng gây tranh cãi: tiền thưởng quốc tế không đồng nghĩa cầu thủ trực tiếp được nhận. Ở nhiều nền bóng chuyền, đặc biệt là châu Á và Đông Nam Á, quỹ thưởng đi qua nhiều tầng nấc: liên đoàn, ban huấn luyện, đội tuyển. Với tuyển bóng chuyền nữ Việt Nam, việc lọt vào giải đã là bước tiến dài, nhưng không nhận được sự khích lệ cụ thể, cuối cùng chỉ là học hỏi và chiến đấu vì màu cờ sắc áo. Điều đó càng bất lợi trong khi châu Á đang chật vật tìm chỗ đứng giữa sự thống trị của châu Âu và Nam Mỹ. Chỉ vài đội như Nhật Bản, Trung Quốc hay Thái Lan mới đủ sức tranh chấp. Điều đáng nói là chính những đội mới như Việt Nam lại mang tới giá trị khác biệt cho giải đấu: mở rộng thị trường, thu hút khán giả mới, tạo nên những câu chuyện truyền cảm hứng. Chỉ có điều hệ thống thưởng hiện nay chưa phản ánh điều đó. Thắng 1 trận lịch sử hay thua cả 3, về mặt tài chính gần như ngang nhau. Từ góc nhìn dài hạn, đây là “hòn đá cản đường" mà FIVB cần sớm thay đổi. Nếu muốn bóng chuyền thực sự toàn cầu hóa, không thể chỉ thưởng cho những nhà vô địch quen mặt. Một cơ chế chia thưởng theo trận, giống VNL, hay bóng đá, không chỉ công bằng hơn mà còn giúp nuôi dưỡng niềm tin và động lực cho những nền bóng chuyền đang phát triển. Với tuyển nữ bóng chuyền Việt Nam, đặc biệt là sau khi Bích Tuyền rút lui, đáp án cho câu hỏi “được gì” từ giải bóng chuyền thế giới lần này không nằm ở tiền bạc, mà ở kinh nghiệm, bản lĩnh và dấu ấn lịch sử. Nhưng rõ ràng, nếu muốn thấy những bước tiến bền vững, hệ thống thưởng cần thay đổi để những đội như tuyển nữ bóng chuyền Việt Nam không chỉ được vỗ tay khích lệ, mà còn được công nhận xứng đáng trên cả phương diện tài chính. The team said this reveals that Australopithecus and the oldest Homo ancestors coexisted up to 2.8 million years ago. The find has major implications on traditional theories of evolution. The famed Australopithecus Lucy may have a cousin. A new discovery of fossilized teeth in an Ethiopian field has researchers theorizing that they came from a new species of Australopithecus. They dated the teeth to the same period as the oldest known specimens of the genus Homo, found in the same field, upending some traditional theories of human evolution. “This new research shows that the image many of us have in our minds of an ape to a Neanderthal to a modern human is not correct—evolution doesn’t work like that,” Kaye Reed, Arizona State University paleoecologist, said in a statement. “Here we have two hominin species that are together.” The Ledi-Geraru Research Project—led by scientists at ASU, but encompassing an international team—continues to study the field in Africa, which is the same site that previously revealed the oldest member of the genus Homo and the earliest Oldowan stone tools ever found. Researchers discovered 13 of the Australopithecus teeth in the field that also gave us a Homo jaw, which has been dated to 2.8 million years ago. In a new study on the find, published in the journal Nature, lead author Brian Villmoare wrote that the teeth were found in sediment dated to between 2.6 million and 2.8 million years old. “We know what the teeth and mandible of the earliest Homo look like, but that’s it,” Villmoare wrote. “This emphasizes the critical importance of finding additional fossils to understand the differences between Australopithecus and Homo, and potentially how they were able to overlap in the fossil record at the same location.” The team has been able to date these fossils by analyzing signs of volcanic and tectonic activity, including the presence of feldspar crystal within ash. “We can date the eruptions that were happening on the landscape when they’re deposited,” Christopher Campisano, an ASU geologist, said in a statement. “And we know that these fossils are interbed between those eruptions, so we can date units above and below the fossils. We are dating the volcanic ash of the eruptions that were happening while they were on the landscape.” That volcanic information is important to understanding species of the time, as the landscape changed drastically with each volcanic event. The team’s next step is examining tooth enamel to understand what members of this species was eating. They can then compare their findings about this Australopithecus specimen to what is already known about early Homo species, hoping to determine just how closely linked the two were. “Whenever you have an exciting discovery, if you’re a paleontologist, you always know that you need more information,” Reed said. “You need more fossils. It's shorter and lower than the Atlas, sacrificing the third row in the process, while gaining a bit more second-row legroom. The racier-looking Atlas Cross Sport might not add any power, but its presence is noticeably different, leaning more towards edginess than the family-friendliness of the Atlas. The same refreshed grille, headlights, and taillights on the regular Atlas were also applied to the Cross Sport in 2024, and it also receives a standard 12-inch infotainment touchscreen, a bump up from the 2023 model with a standard 8-inch version. You’ve probably seen people before create their own fake cop car to irk the police, thinking it’s a funny thing to do. But a teenager who had one of the better looking versions we’ve seen, transforming a Ford Explorer into what looks like a pretty convincing police cruiser, was busted for allegedly impersonating law enforcement. Police already knew about the replica cop car, however it’s technically not illegal to own a black-and-white vehicle that looks like a cruiser. But the teen made a mistake, allegedly switching on the red and blue lights before making an illegal U-turn. Someone called that in and police soon arrived to ask the guy some questions and figure out if he broke the law. When asked about the emergency lights on the vehicle, the suspect claims that they’re always disconnected, except when the Ford is on private property. That’s a correct answer, if he’s telling the truth, because displaying red and blue lights on a vehicle in Wisconsin is against the law since it’s considered impersonation of law enforcement. Clearly not ready to take the kid at his word, the first officer on the scene asks if he’ll show how the lights are disconnected. That’s when you see the Explorer not only has exterior markings, push bar, wheels, and other details that make it look incredibly close to a cop car, the interior is just as convincing, if not more. But as the officer asks questions about control in the cabin, the teen gets nervous about a specific switch, saying he doesn’t want to flip it. As the officer presses to know why, the guy admits it will turn on the red and blue lights, the very ones he claimed were disconnected. Why were the lights connected as the Ford was on the road? Supposedly because some of the teen’s buddies sitting on the sidewalk wanted to see them turn on. That’s when the officer drops a big bomb on this kid: the city has cameras on that stretch of road, since it’s a popular hangout spot on the weekends. In other words, he’s about to pull the footage and see if the person who called claiming the Explorer had red and blue flashing lights was lying or the teen suspect is. Ultimately, the teen picked up a felony impersonating a peace officer charge and a misdemeanor for disorderly conduct.
